The EV Tariff Power Play

In my latest newsletter, I mentioned the rising competition between energy companies as they launch new EV tariffs. Now, Good Energy joins the fray with a welcome addition to the market.

Their new fixed EV tariff offers a compelling package that brings significant cost savings with a fixed rate until July 2025 as well as 100% renewable electricity. The attractively priced 7.4p/kWh overnight rate might not be market leading as the article suggests, but what it does do is allow drivers to charge their EVs at a competitive price, whilst benefitting from a free Zapmap Premium subscription as an additional incentive.

Not only does this competitive offering benefit consumers, it supports the industry as well. The power play for the crown of the market leading EV tariff is good news for current and future EV drivers contemplating the switch. Access to cheaper energy will undoubtedly support further adoption of EVs, accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels a lot sooner.

So in answering the question I posed in my newsletter: "Will this (power play) spark even more competition and innovation?" I believe it will! It's a positive step forward for both EV drivers and the industry, promoting affordability, sustainability, and convenience, paving the way for a smoother transition to electric vehicles.
