Solar Companies Raise $34.3 Billion in Corporate Funding in 2023, the Largest Amount in a Decade

Despite the challenging economic situation last year, the solar industry saw the largest funding raised in over a decade and saw a significant increase on 2022.

VC funding was down by just 1%, which compared to other markets was a strong position, whilst debt financing reached a decade high. Of the $6.9 billion of VC funding, it was great to see Hyperion clients gaining their share of the largest deals of the year.

As more countries are focusing on energy security and creating the policy frameworks for renewables to thrive, solar continues to perform strongly, with over 300GW of new solar coming online in 2023.

As money continues to flood into the solar industry and hundreds of thousands of new jobs are created, it's essential that the leading businesses are recruiting the strongest leadership talent. Hyperion have been recruiting top talent in the solar industry for 10 years, so we know what it takes to be successful. If you're looking to add senior talent to your solar team, please reach out to me, Laura Sottosanti or one of our team.

Total corporate funding, including venture capital (VC) funding, public market, and debt financing into the solar sector, increased 42% year-over-year (YoY) in 2023, with $34.3 billion raised in 160 deals, compared to $24.1 billion in 175 deals in 2022.
