Such are the abnormal time we live in, this 'headline' barely made the headlines. It is though both significant and worthy of celebration. It's a moment just ten years ago people would be scoffing at as impossible and an unrealistic pipe-dream. Accusations that were frequently levelled at me when talking about a renewable future energy system in 2007. Now I'm the one laughing! I expect if you're reading this, you are too. But no time to be smug, we've got to double-down on pushing for 100% renewables, energy storage and smart-mobility.
At Hyperion we are committed to help cleantech companies scale and to achieve what they are capable of, by helping them to recruit extraordinary talent.
National Grid has announced that for the first time, zero carbon power generation outstripped fossil fuels in Britain in 2019. Throughout the twelve months of last year, 48.5% of the country’s power came from zero carbon sources, including wind farms, solar and nuclear energy, alongside energy imported by subsea interconnectors. Throughout the same period, 43% of Britain’s electricity came from fossil fuels, predominantly gas. The remaining 8.5% was generated by biomass.
