It's always great to read of such game-changing projects. It's a much used phrase, but this would certainly be game-changing. It's better still when you know the key protagonists involved. That's the beauty of the sector we work in, and the people we speak with every day. So many are working tirelessly to really make a difference, with passion and conviction. Congratulations to Matt and Mikey and all those involved. We look forward to seeing your dreams and aspirations becoming a reality, for the good of us all.
Pivot Power has unveiled highly ambitious plans to build 2GWs of battery storage connected directly to the transmission network. The start-up aims to use dozens of 49.9MW batteries to balance the grid and simultaneously charge entire car parks of electric vehicles within minutes. The company has backing for the initial phase of its plan from Downing LLP. The investment firm plans to bring in both institutional and retail investors to fund a programme that could top £1.6bn, subject to sufficient backing and planning consents. The company thinks EV owners will also crowdfund the buildout.
