This may be only the second residential scale flow battery launched, but I've definitely seen and met a number of companies with units in development. In fact I'm sure Schmidd have one. Anyway. It will be very interesting to see how this European manufacturer does. Of course even in Germany, space if more of a premium than Australia, and in a basement or garage size matters, as well of course does safety. Let's see if at last we can see a flow battery success story!
It would be just the second such device launched worldwide to date by a manufacturer, after Australian company Redflow began producing 10kWh VRF systems for households in March 2016, only to discontinue the product just over a year later. Another major European manufacturer had been discussing launching similar systems a couple of years ago, but this appears to have not been followed through with.
