This was very encouraging to read, especially give the huge numbers of people involved in the survey.
I think we are getting to the stage where most if not all auto manufacturers have an EV or PHEV offering. I believe Jaguar will join those ranks later today. So the choice now is large, the only hold up I would say is charging infrastructure. This is all that is holding me back from the change right now. I have no charging options at home, so I am 'badgering' CBRE to install chargers at our office campus. With a favourable ear so far I would say. Let's shout loud to our places of work, employers and local authorities to get charging infrastructure in, and EV company cars on the menu. We are passed the tipping point and need to accelerate the uptake to change our cities and our air quality for the better.
Almost 700,000 company car drivers would chose an electric vehicle (EV) if they were given the opportunity by their employers, according to new research published by the Go Ultra Low initiative. However, only a quarter of businesses currently offer EVs to their workers, despite significant commercial incentives offered by the government to do so. The survey by Go Ultra Low, a joint scheme from the government and the automotive industry to promote wider use of EVs, found that only 25% of businesses make EVs available to their employees. Of those unable to ‘go electric’, 69% - 486,500 individual drivers - said they would be ‘likely’ to choose an EV as their next company car, if they were made available.
