2018 isn't the year that football came home... but it is the year of large scale energy storage in the UK!

After an uncertain start, it looks likely that over 500MW of capacity will be installed by the end of the year, compared to 100MW of large-scale battery storage in Dec 2017.

With a growing pipeline of projects (split between large front of the meter projects, which make up the majority of this capacity, and smaller behind the meter projects which are more common) development timelines being reduced and opportunities beginning to emerge with the National Grid, it will be fascinating to see which types of projects will be built (and by who) as well which revenues they are accessing as the market in the UK continues to develop.

Hyperion recently partnered with Arenko Group, a developer and owner of battery storage projects in the UK, to manage the growth of their commercial and technical teams in London, successfully recruiting their Head of Trading, Innovation Project Manager, HSQE Manager, Senior Systems Engineer, Construction Project Manager and Software Architect.
